French Inspired Bedroom

A vintage inspired Christmas tree full of pretty things, glowing stars and a mix of heirloom and new ornaments. Today is our 5th Tree in the 12 Trees of Christmas- a colorful vintage inspired Christmas Tree. I have gotten so many requests for more of your favorite simple vintage inspired trees – and of course- am happy to share a few ideas since they are some of my favorites too.

Vintage Ornaments on tree

Colorful Vintage Christmas Tree

There is just something about vintage ornaments that speak loudly to me. As in- I can't walk by them in a thrift store without picking a few up when I find them. Though to fill a tree with only vintage can be a bit daunting- you would need a hundred or more vintage ornaments to cover a small tree even. So I love to mix and mingle those vintage with new for that reason- and also because a mix of age and style really gives the tree a 'collected' feeling.

This tree was set up outside and I was doing a bit of video while decorating it and enjoying the process when my husband called from his mission to get more ornament hooks and said that rain in the forecast had popped up and I should wrap up the tree and photos asap. I wasn't ready to photograph just yet and so we moved the tree inside the barn just.in.time.– and so, you will see this cutie pop up again in a couple different looks.

Vintage and New Mix & Mingle

This tree has a lot of vintage baubles- and a lot of new vintage inspired baubles.

From beaded snowflakes to sugar sprinkled Christmas trees & pinecones to little stars and solid color baubles- an eclectic mix of styles of ornaments to mingle with those vintage ones.

Mix & Mingle : The key when mixing ornaments on a tree that has a lot of colorful ornaments is to make sure you balance the bright and colorful with simple and quiet with whites, golds, and silvers for example.

I used Balsam Hill Essential White, Essential Red and Essential Mercury Glass ornaments in silver and green.

Green mercury glass ornaments

One of the things I love about the Essential ornaments is that they offer a big box of tonal or same color ornaments in different sheens, shapes, and sizes- which really helps create a lot of charm and layers on the tree.

The Tree

Simple and sweet and so much like the real thing with a little bit of natural wonkiness and a whole lot of charm. I am in Love with this cute little chubby tree.

Christmas tree next to cupboard

This tree is such a charmer. He is a new tree this year called a Nordmann Fir and looks much like the fresh cut trees you would find in Europe.

Christmas tree next to armoire

You might remember I shared a couple of these trees in tiny sizes earlier this season. This one is a little larger at 7′ tall- but has the same character and charm as the wee ones.

You can see more of these Baby Nordmann Trees HERE and you will be seeing this little guy popping up again during our 12 trees series. It is just such a charming tree and I absolutely love the little bit tubby and wonky shape it has.
